Community Contribution Policy

How WikiPepper works — and how to be a great contributor.

Our Mission

WikiPepper is a free, community-driven encyclopedia of the world's peppers. Our goal is to build the most comprehensive, accurate, and accessible pepper database on the internet — built by and for pepper enthusiasts.

Who Can Contribute

Anyone with a free WikiPepper account can contribute. Whether you're a casual grower, a botanist, a chilihead, or a chef — your knowledge is welcome here.

What You Can Submit

  • New pepper entries with species, SHU, and descriptive information
  • Corrections and improvements to existing entries
  • Photos of peppers you've grown or encountered
  • Forum posts, growing guides, and pepper ID help

Content Standards

All contributions must be:

  • Accurate — Based on reliable sources or firsthand knowledge
  • Neutral — Factual descriptions, no promotional language
  • Original — Your own writing or properly attributed
  • Appropriate — No offensive, discriminatory, or harmful content

What's Not Allowed

  • Advertising, promoting, or linking to products or services for sale
  • Spam, duplicate entries, or low-effort filler content
  • False or fabricated data
  • Personal attacks or harassment in forum posts
  • Copyright-infringing images or text

Editing Philosophy

WikiPepper uses a transparent edit log — all changes are recorded and attributed. We encourage constructive editing: improve what exists, add what's missing, and cite sources when you can. If you're unsure about a change, use the forum or contact us first.

Enforcement

Contributions that violate this policy may be edited, reverted, or removed. Repeated violations may result in account suspension. We maintain this policy to protect the integrity of the database for everyone.
