Bred by Ed Currie at PuckerButt Pepper Company in Rock Hill, South Carolina. A cross between a La Soufrière pepper from St. Vincent and a Naga/Bhut Jolokia type. Held the Guinness World Record from 2013 to 2023 at 2.2 million SHU. Recognizable by its deeply wrinkled skin and signature scorpion-like tail. Despite the extreme heat, it carries a fruity, almost sweet undertone that Currie specifically selected for. The name was inspired by the Carolina Panthers and the Grim Reaper. Original lab designation HP22B (Higher Power, Pot No. 22, Plant B). Certified by Guinness World Records in 2013.
