Trinidad Moruga Scorpion
From the remote Moruga district in southern Trinidad. A landrace, not a deliberate cross. Tested by the CPI at NMSU at over 2 million SHU in 2012, briefly making it the hottest pepper documented. Golf ball-sized pods with extreme wrinkling. Has a uniquely delayed burn — you think it's manageable for about 30 seconds, then it builds relentlessly. Parentage: Landrace from Moruga, Trinidad. Believed to be a selection from 7-Pot × Congo Pepper cross by Nigel & Russell Rooplal (ca. 2010).
